What is web3?

Web3 is a vision of a future internet that is decentralized and built on top of blockchain technology. Unlike the web of today, which relies on centralized servers owned by private corporations, Web3 – at least in theory – stores data on a decentralized, peer-to-peer blockchain database that is resistant to crashes, censorship, and takedowns. Users control their data directly rather than going through intermediaries, and can take it anywhere they want.
