Mega-Funds
What is a mega-fund?
A mega-fund is generally considered to be a $5B+ fund in private equity or a $500M+ (or even $1B+) fund in venture capital – sizes that are substantially larger than the average US private-equity fund or venture fund. While mega-funds are not new, there has been growing momentum behind them – in part due to mega-funds like the SoftBank Vision Fund and Tiger Global's vehicles, which have wielded their large pools of capital as a strategic differentiator.
