What is a BCI?
A BCI or brain-computer interface, also known as a brain-machine interface (BMI), is a device that can turn brain signals into actions and other outputs. They have implications for treating patients with paralysis, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, depression, and hypertension, among other conditions. They also have potential applications for human augmentation and performance enhancement.
