5G Bands
What are 5G bands?
5G can operate across a wider range of frequencies than 4G. It can work in the <1 GHz "low band" and 1-6 GHz "mid band" (together, called the “sub-6Ghz” band, which is where 4G also operates); as well as the 24-40 GHz “mmWave” (millimeter wave) high band. Industry watchers often cite mmWave 5G’s ability to download a full-length movie in seconds. However, 5G in the sub-6Ghz band has to share more congested lanes, which can have a negative impact on speed.
